Fiberglass Pool Maintenance Tips

Spend your pool and less time cleaning and repairing it, a fiberglass pool is a great option for you. These pools are quick to set up (a few days, in fact) and the smooth surface makes them fairly easy to clean. In fact, fiberglass pools are often chosen because they require less maintenance and upkeep.

If you've just invested in a fiberglass pool, here are some tips to help you get it with minimal effort to clean and maintain.

One of the first things we recommend is a pool cover. It can save you a lot of trouble. Simply cover the pool when not in use and you'll find that come wind or rain you won't be a victim of annoying leaves and debris.

Fortunately, the surface of a fiberglass pool is non-porous and soft, meaning it's not the ideal home for algae. It doesn't require a lot of brushing, but you should still brush it from time to time.

Pay special attention to stairs and corners. If algae settle and grow somewhere, then there. If you have algae growth it is perfectly safe to give your fiberglass pool a light shock treatment.

Pools act like a magnet for bugs, twigs, leaves and other garden debris. Invest in a pool net to remove unwanted and unsightly swimmers. If you have dirt on the bottom of the pool, all you have to do is put your kreepy krauly to work.

The PH of all pools should be checked regularly. A chemical test checks for chlorine, PH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness and cyanuric acid levels. Because a fiberglass pool has an inert surface, the water chemistry generally requires fewer adjustments. You can purchase a pool chemical test at local pools.
